Electric guitars share some fundamentals with all stringed instruments. The basic construction geometry is pretty well established and there are few variations outside of the normal. This is due to the fundamental relationship that the player has with the instrument. Odd scale lengths, neck shapes and sizes are mostly novelty that appeal to only a few.
One major contributor to the "tone" of an electric guitar are the pickups. In my opinion they are the single most significant factor after the skill and talent of the player.
There are no end of options and choices available to the player today.
The most consistent pickups that I have incorporated into my guitars are Lollar and McNelly. There is a type and variation to satisfy most everyone.
In-house winding is also available.
Custom wound single coil pickups
A short video during a recent test of a CNC router. The router was designed and built a couple of years ago, but has only recently been put into action. It should help with some of the tedious aspects of carving instrument backs and tops.
